Life in Turkey is more economic than in many other western countries. Furthermore, life in Eskisehir is less costly than in many other large cities in Turkey. Eskisehir Technical University does not provide accommodation opportunities for international students on or off the campus. However, assistance in terms of accommodation, is provided by the International Affairs Office (OIA) (uib@eskisehir.edu.tr). There are two accommodation options:

  1. Sharing apartment with students:

The best accommodation option for an exchange student is to share an apartment with another student, who has already rented a flat. Thus, during their short period of education, exchange students can have a full-furnished room of their own without dealing with procedures for rental and utilities such as water, electricity and heating services. With the shared finances, responsibilities and duties, the students form a friendship enabling them to share their cultures and to be more internationally-minded.

Eskisehir Technical University International Affairs Office, upon request, helps exchange students find a roommate and/or a buddy, who will assist them particularly on first days in the city, contingent on their demands specified in “Housing Application Form”.

  • OIA sends by e-mail the information about roommate and buddy determined according to the exchange students’ demands,
  • The exchange student is required to contact the roommate to inform him/her on when and how he/she arrives in Eskisehir. Thus, the exchange student may also get information on what to bring with him/her.
  1. Private rental accommodation:

In the vicinity of the campus and in the downtown, there are studio apartments and residences, which meet students’ basic needs.  However, because the duration of exchange programs is relatively short, staying in studio apartments may be more expensive than sharing an apartment with a Turkish student.
