Profile of the Programme

Earth Science , unlike geology, requires a systematic and multi-disciplinary approach, is a science related to the environment . Solving the complex environmental problems due to Human activity and the relationship with the independent changes of the Earth system with mono-disciplinary methods is insufficient. Therefore, Earth Sciences  covers all fields of science to determine relation of  all the constituent systems of the  Earth( Earth, Atmosphere, hydrosphere , etc.) with each other and human.  These disciplines are geology, geotechnics , mining, geophysics, meteorology, oceanography , surveying , environmental and agricultural engineering. Nowadays,  in the solution of the human or natural origin problems, the necessity of using a combination of the sciences have emerged . Students of the Earth Scieces ,equipped with a new approach , a systematic and multi-disciplinary methods to solve  the   environmental problems of the world could face in this area of science, will be a new generation of scientists and experts .

Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

A student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 10 courses, not less than 75 ECTS credits and complete a term project, have a minimum GPA of 2.50/4.00 and no letter grades lower than CC and YT.

Access to Further Studies

May apply to doctorate programmes in any field or proficiency in fine arts programmes.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Students participating in this program will find a chance to follow new technological developments of professional associations and  to analyze and find solutions to problems through the systems approach. Students who participate in the programt will conduct heoretical and practical laboratory work in addition to the information gained during their undergraduate studies. Participants in the program will gain experience and knowledge to do scientific studies as well as academic, public, private and industry related projects in the fields of earth science studies .
