Profile of the Programme

Turkey is one of the most important country in the world with its cultural properties and wealth. However, still in our country, the most important problem is that cultural properties have not been taken out, documentation and restitution studies are both not enough and destroyed because of wrong applications. In short, whereas Turkey is a very important country in terms of archeological and cultural heritage, this heritage is in the danger of not handing down the next generations for some reasons such as havin a limited number of sufficient workers in the field studies, not accurate studies all the time and insufficient documentation. Within the studies and education programmes in this unit, this program aims to perform interdisciplinary research and development studies and determining appropriate methods in culture property documentation and supply staff  for the post graduate programme. As a part of preparing the preservation and restoration projects in the architectural scale, this documentation study describes the process of producing the basic data with the help of advanced technology.

This programme aims at providing candidates to specialise academically and practical in an interdisciplinary environment, in the general sense, in the documentation of cultural properties. In this way, students gain skills of utilising advanced technology in protection and are given information in basic protection theory-material and stucture, art-architecture history and archeology.
