The Department of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems conducts graduate education and research activities in the fields of remote sensing, geographic information systems, spatial data production, spatial analysis, modeling, and decision support. The department has an interdisciplinary structure aimed at improving the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students from different academic backgrounds in spatial data and related technologies.

Within the program, students gain knowledge of current theoretical approaches, methods, and technologies in the field of remote sensing and geographic information systems and develop the ability to analyze, evaluate, and apply spatial data-based solutions to environmental, urban, social, and technical problems.

The educational and research activities carried out in the department are related to application areas such as environment, urban and regional planning, geology, agriculture, forestry, engineering, natural resource management, disaster and risk analysis, and related fields. Graduates acquire the academic and professional background necessary to contribute to remote sensing- and geographic information systems-based studies in public institutions, local governments, research organizations, universities, and the private sector.
