Week - 2 An overview of relationship between textile materialsand textile design from fibre to final product. The global textile and clothing industries. The role of designer in textiles and clothing industries.
Week - 3 Designers found in textiles and clothing industries. The purpose of a textile designer.
Week - 4 Classification oftextiles. Fabric construction methodsand printing of textile materials. Fabric design and print design. Examples of textile design problems.
Week - 5 Main steps of the textile design process. Planning of the design work. Generation of ideas for design.
Week - 6 Presentation of design ideas. Developing designs. Submitting designs to customers.
Week - 7 The main principles of textile design. Design elements to create design: space, line, shape, form, colour, value and texture.
Week - 8 Analyzing the factors influencing product choice. Aesthetic factors, cultural and traditional factors, social factors, economic factors, physical factors. Consumer buying behaviours. Forecasting fashion trends.
Week - 9 Introduction to the woven fabric design. Main principles of weaving. Basic weave structures: plain, twill and satin. Notation system of weaves. Warping plan. Weft or picking plan.
Week - 10 Yarn selection for weaving. Effects of yarn colour on the woven fabric design. Effects of weave on the design. Complex weaves and weave combinations.
Week - 11 Introduction to weftknitting. Weft knitting machines and fabric types and structures. Main principles of knitwear design. Notation system of design.
Week - 12 Classification of printing and dyeing methods. Classifying printed textile designs. Dyes and pigments.
