Week - 1 Introduction to knitting. History of knitting.
Week - 2 Principles of Weft Knitting. Comparison of weft knitting and warp knitting.
Week - 3 Comparison of woven and knitted fabrics. Knitting process. Needles and other elements used in the knitting.
Week - 4 Classification of knitting machines. The main parts of knitting machines.
Week - 5 Basic concepts used in knitting.
Week - 6 Basic weft knitting structures and properties. Plain knitting, ribs, interlock and purl knit structures.
Week - 7 Knitting practice in the lab.
Week - 8 Knitting practice in the lab.
Week - 9 Patterning techniques in weft knitting.
Week - 10 Seamless knitting technology. End use of weft knitted fabrics.
Week - 11 Introduction to the computer-aided weft knitted fabric design. Latest trends in weft knitting. Knitting practice in the lab.
Week - 12 Warp knitting techniques and basic constructions. Raschel, tricot and crochet machines.
Week - 13 Nonwoven types and production methods. Speciality fabric constructions.
Week - 14 Case studies toward end use of knitted fabrics.
