Week - 2 Chip formation fundamentals – Chip formation mechanics, built-up edge, tool-chip interface, cutting forces and stresses
Week - 3 Machining calculations- Calculations of machining parameters, material removal rate, machining time etc.
Week - 4 Cutting tool geometry- Effect of geometrical variables on cutting process
Week - 5 Tool wear- Tool wear mechanisms at low and high temperatures
Week - 6 Cutting tool materials- Structure, property and performance relationship of the high speed steels and cemented carbides
Week - 7 Cutting tool materials- Structure, property and performance relationship of the ceramics and ultra-hard materials
