Profile of the Programme

In the department of physics, there are 19 professors, 5 associate professors, 6 assistant professors, 31 instructors, and 10 lecturers. The aim of the program is to educate the students who follow the developments in science and technology, to conduct independent research in theoretical and practical terms, to use the information they acquire in academic life and other fields of application, and as a scientist with universal competitive power. Being 4 years in the undergraduate program and 100% in the Turkish language of instruction, our students can also study 1 year preparatory class depending on the request. To be graduated from the department, all the courses they take must have a minimum score of 2.0 and there is a requirement to submit a Project Preparation and Poster Presentation  under the senior year. Thanks to the compulsory internship work during their training, after graduation, students are increasing their chances of working in positions of different qualifications of the public institutions in which they are trained. Our graduates work as a researcher in modern analysis and quality control laboratories in AR-GE departments of various institutions and organizations. Our graduate students become academicians using the research laboratory infrastructure and knowledge in the consultancy of our faculty members within the scope of studies on thesis subject and national and international project works of different qualities. The 13 research laboratories have spatial and scientific infrastructure dedicated to the work of the Physics Program in the faculty of science, such as SANTEZ, TÜBİTAK, BOREN, DPT and BAP (University Scientific Research Projects), are equipped with the latest technology needed to reach their targets in short time and with high quality results. In the Physics Department, high quality and qualified scientific researches are carried out in various fields such as nanotechnology, semiconductor devices and optoelectronics applications, high energy and plasma technology, technological applications of clay and zeolite type materials, atom and molecule physics, astrophysics and gravitation. With the certificates they receive from non-thesis postgraduate programs, our graduates work as physics teachers in public institutions private and foundation schools and private sector physicists. Our graduates can work as a job security specialist in various private sector and public institutions in the case of obtaining a job security certificate, and after having completed the graduate program in medical physics, they can also work as an expert in health institutions.
