Profile of the Programme

The science of Physics is one of the basic sciences like Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and in touch with  different science branches. There are five major branches and these are Mathematical Physics, General Physics, High Energy and Plasma Physics, Atom and Molecule and Solid State Physics. In the department of physics, there are 10 professors, 15 associate professors, 6 assistant professors, 31 instructors, and 7 lecturers, as well as 2 research assistants within the scope of YÖK-ÖYP program.  The courses offered in Physics program especially emphasize the fundamentals of Physics and then advanced Physics considering all these major subjects. The research laboratories of the department are equipped with the research equipments and facilities needed to do scientific research with the support of Scientific Research Projects Fund of Anadolu University, DPT and TUBITAK. The Department's educational aim is totrain modern physics and future scientists guided by the basic knowledge and know-how necessary for them to handle and solve the problems they face in their careers as well as to contribute to developments in science and technology. The graduates of this department can be researchers in their field and work in various research and development laboratories of different agencies and institutes, modern analysis and quality control laboratories, also in education field if required certificates are completed.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

A student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 10 courses, not less than 75 ECTS credits and complete a term project, have a minimum GPA of 2.50/4.00 and no letter grades lower than CC and YT.

Access to Further Studies

May apply to doctorate programmes in any field or proficiency in fine arts programmes.
