Profile of the Programme

Department of Computer Engineering has been offering a master's program with thesis since 2000-2001 Spring semester. The aim of the program is to provide qualified R&D personnel, managers, and academicians required in the field of Computer Engineering, which is why the content of the program is designed accordingly. Students fulfilling the graduation requirements are granted the degree of Master of Science in Computer Engineering.

Candidate student is required to have Bachelor degree with at least 2.00/4.00 GPA and at least 55 points on the ALES or have the equivalent points accepted by the Senate on GRE or GMAT exam and satisfy specific admission and enrollment requirements of the Institute Board.Please see ESKİŞEHİR TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY GRADUATE EDUCATION AND EXAMINATION REGULATION for all admission and enrollment regulations.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student with a master's degree with thesis must have at least 7 courses and seminar courses, not less than 60 ECTS credits, proficiency exam and thesis proposal, and the Specialization Field Course and Thesis study, provided that it is not less than 180 ECTS credits. A student who has been accepted with a bachelor's degree must have at least 14 courses and seminar courses, not less than 120 ECTS credits, qualification exam and thesis proposal, and the Specialization Field Course and Thesis study, not less than 180 ECTS credits. A student enrolled in a doctoral program must have a grade of at least YT, CC or above from all courses taken, and a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00. In addition, it is compulsory to take at least one course that includes Scientific Research Techniques and Research and Publication Ethics during graduate education. The duration of the program is 8 semesters for students who have a master's degree with thesis, and the maximum completion period is 12 semesters. For students admitted with a bachelor's degree, the program duration is 10 semesters and the maximum completion period is 14 semesters. During this period, the student who meets the above conditions and prepares and successfully defends his doctoral thesis graduates from the program. A student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 7 courses and seminar course, not less than 60 ECTS credits, and the Field Specialization courses and write and defend a Master’s Thesis, have a minimum GPA of 2.50/4.00 and letter grades equal or higher than CC and YT. In addition, student is required to successfully complete at least one course including topics about Research and Publication Ethics with Scientific Research Techniques during graduate education. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters.
