Mathematics department incorporated in the re-founded graduate school of sciences began education in 1993. Mathematics is fundamental in the university education and that is why apart from doing research in the field of mathematics, the department gives a wide variety of service courses to almost all faculties of the university. The main mathematics subject areas of the department are applied mathematics, fractal geometry, fractal analysis, analysis and topology. Also taking the development in the information tecnologies into consideration, the departmant gives a particular importance to the computer sciences - especially to the soft-ware and programming. 17 Professors, 5 Assoc. Prof., 4 Assist. Prof., 1 Instructor and 5 Resarch Assistants Doctor and 4 Resarch Asistants are currently working in the department. The program aims to cover all practical and theoretical aspects of the study area and educate students to become an expert in any field of mathematics, do research and disseminate the results of research in mathematics and develop a broad and in-depth perspective.
