  • At the end of this course, the student; 1. can define the refractory material and explain the classification and shaping of refractory materials.
  • 1.1. can define and classify the refractory materials.
  • 1.2. can explain the shaping of refractory materials.
  • 2. has knowledge about the raw materials, fabrication techniques and test methods of refractory materials.
  • 2.1. has knowledge about the raw materials of refractory materials.
  • 2.2. can explain the fabrication techniques of refractory materials.
  • 2.3. can explain the test methods of refractory materials.
  • 3. can explain the properties of refractory materials and has knowledge about the subjects of refractoriness, refractoriness under load and creep.

  • 4. can evaluate mechanical properties, thermal behaviour and slag resistance of refractory materials.

  • 5.1. has knowledge about the industrial applications of various refractory materials used on cement rotary kilns, iron and steel industry and glass melting furnaces.
