Formulate and solve steady-state conduction problems in common geometries, including composite systems, heat generation and fins.
Analyze transient and basic numerical conduction problems using appropriate dimensionless parameters and discretization ideas.
Use boundary-layer concepts, dimensionless numbers and engineering correlations for forced- and natural-convection problems.
Determine the convection heat-transfer coefficient within a laboratory/application context and compare experimental or application results with correlations.
Evaluate heat-exchanger performance using overall heat-transfer coefficient, LMTD and effectiveness-NTU methods.
Apply basic thermal-radiation principles to blackbody, surface-radiation and combined heat-transfer problems.
Model practical thermal systems, select suitable solution methods and present results in a clear engineering format.
