Determines the advanced data, methods, and research tools required for the Ph.D.l thesis study.
Compiles advanced data, standards, methods and technical information relating to one of the following fields: construction, construction management, building materials, transport, mechanics, geotechnics or hydraulics.
Determines the theoretical approach, experimental method, numerical model, analytical tool, fieldwork or research design to be used in the thesis.
Undertakes the necessary scientific and technical preparations for a PhD thesis based on theoretical, quantitative, experimental and/or fieldwork.
Conducts and completes the Ph.D. thesis study under the supervision of the advisor, taking independent research responsibility

Responds to the jury members’ questions and assessments by drawing on advanced scientific knowledge and research findings.
Explains the thesis’s original scientific, technical, professional and social contributions to the field of civil engineering.
