Week - 1 Introduction of nonmetalic materials,Composite materials, Wooden materials, fabric cover materials.
Week - 2 Classification of composite materials, fiber composite, particle composite, hybrid composite, honeycomb composite.
Week - 3 The selection criteria for aircraft structure. Strength-density ratio of nonmetalic materials.
Week - 4 Specific examples of aviation application of nonmetalic materials, Webs and skins of wings and airframe. Powerplants.
Week - 5 Fiber reinforcements. Carbon-Graphite and Boron fibers. Glass and Aramid-Kevlar fibers. Ceramic fibers. Metal fibers.
Week - 6 Curing process of composite materials.
Week - 7 Matrix materials, resin materials, metal matrix.
Week - 8 Atomic and micro structure of composite materials.
Week - 9 Mechanical behaviours of composite materials. Orthotrop and anisotrop behaviours.Tension and compression testing, fatigue and impact testing, creep and hardness testing.
Week - 10 Fabrication techniques of composite structures. Fabrication using prepregs, vacum bag, autoclave curing cycle, flament winding techniques.
Week - 11 Environmental degradation of composite structures. Aging causes of composite structure in service time, moisture absorbsion, temperature effect.
Week - 12 Filament winding process.
Week - 13 Assembly methods of composite structures, rivets assembly, adhesive joints.
Week - 14 Maintenance and repair techniques of composite structures.
