Profile of the Programme

In this programme, highly qualified maintenance approval personnel are educated according to the international standards for aviation sector. In the Department of Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance, education is offered according to European Union Standards (EASA), SHY-66 Aircraft Maintenance Personnel Regulations, and SHY/EASA-147 Aircraft Maintenance Educational Institutions Regulations. The faculty has the SHY-147 Aircraft Maintenance Education Authorization Certificate from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transport. Besides theoretical courses, students take practical courses  at the aerodynamics lab, hydrolic systems lab, CAD/CAM in computer labs, airframe and engine workshop and SHY-145 licensed maintenance facilities. Sixty students are admitted to this programme by a centralized nationwide placement examination. In the department, one year of intensive English Language education is followed by four years of undergraduate education. Sixty workdays of internship is required. Graduated students work in the technical departments of Turkish Airlines, private airline companies and other aviation companies.

* Bu programda uygulamaya yönelik bazı dersler ve stajlar özel ve resmi havacılık kuruluşlarının tesislerinde yapıldığından bu programı kazanan öğrencilere güvenlik soruşturması yaptırılacaktır. Güvenlik soruşturması olumsuz olan veya bu kuruluşların düzen ve disiplinine uymayan öğrenciler bu programa devam edemezler.* İsteyen öğrencilere kontenjan dahilinde bir yıl süreli İngilizce Hazırlık Programı uygulanır. Hazırlık programı süresi, öğretim süresi sütununda gösterilen yıllara dahil değildir.* UÇAK GÖVDE-MOTOR BAKIM (lisans) eğitimi mesleğini icra edebilmek için aranan nitelikler:1) Havalimanı giriş kartı almasına engel oluşturacak herhangi bir Adli Sicil Kaydı veya Adli Sicil Arşiv Kaydı bulunmamak.2) Mesleği ve/veya meslekte verilen görevi icra etmesine engel oluşturacak herhangi bir sağlık sorunu bulunmadığına dair tam teşekküllü bir hastaneden sağlık raporu almak (renk körlüğü, işitme kaybı/eksikliği, görme kaybı/eksikliği vs).

Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.

Access to Further Studies

May apply to master's or doctorate programmes in any field or proficiency in fine arts programmes

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The graduates work at Turkish Airlines, private airline companies, and at the technical departments of other companies operating in the aviation sector.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters. Letter grades and their associated coefficients are as follows;
For Bachelor of Science, students are selected by National University Entrance Examination. Normal duration is 4 years. Students must take and pass all necessary courses and reach a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 before she/he can graduate.Official language of instruction is Turkish; however, at least 30% of the program is held in English. Students may attend optionally a one-year English preparatory school and pass it before taking the department courses.All Bachelor of Science students are required to perform summer practice as a part of graduation requirements. They must complete a summer practice of at least 40 working days. This course is not included in undergraduate curriculum since it does not carry any credits. Report prepared at the end of summer practice should reflect both the practical experience and the knowledge gained in the practice taken during the aviation education.
