Profile of the Programme

Fashion Design Department was established in 2001. Education program can be classified as basic, supporting, professional and elective. Students can be easily focused on the different aspects of the fashion design profession by the elective courses, which are updated according to Fashion Design working area. Students graduated from this department get the title of Fashion Designer. The Fashion Design Department which is a department of Architecture and Design Faculty is located in main Campus of Anadolu University. The department is governed by one department head. The department is in collaboration with private sector and other universities.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student with a master's degree with thesis must have at least 7 courses and seminar courses, not less than 60 ECTS credits, proficiency exam and thesis proposal, and the Specialization Field Course and Thesis study, provided that it is not less than 180 ECTS credits. A student who has been accepted with a bachelor's degree must have at least 14 courses and seminar courses, not less than 120 ECTS credits, qualification exam and thesis proposal, and the Specialization Field Course and Thesis study, not less than 180 ECTS credits. A student enrolled in a doctoral program must have a grade of at least YT, CC or above from all courses taken, and a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00. In addition, it is compulsory to take at least one course that includes Scientific Research Techniques and Research and Publication Ethics during graduate education. The duration of the program is 8 semesters for students who have a master's degree with thesis, and the maximum completion period is 12 semesters. For students admitted with a bachelor's degree, the program duration is 10 semesters and the maximum completion period is 14 semesters. During this period, the student who meets the above conditions and prepares and successfully defends his doctoral thesis graduates from the program. Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates can work as designers in fashion and ready to wear companies and in design studios, as well as in public and private institutions related to the performing arts, cinema and television organizations and many other institutions.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters. Letter grades and their associated coefficients are as follows;
Department of Fashion Design courses in applied and theoretical education is supported in different percentages. Lectures are mainly two midterms and a final exam, practical courses, the jury system is evaluated.
