Will be able to explain the concept of environmental toxicology and the properties and environmental effects of toxic chemicals, their distribution in water, air and soil ecosystems, their transport, storage, transformation and their effects on living things.
Will be able to explain the toxic pollutants (such as; pesticides, insecticides, organochlorines, DDT, heavy metals, organophosphates, dioxin and furan, halogenated flame retardants) and the characteristics of these toxic pollutants that play a role in the development of ecotoxicology.
Will be able to learn information about existing legal regulations about toxic chemicals and applications of toxicity tests, limitations, superiorities and usage areas of these tests.
Will be able to comprehend the toxicity parameters (such as; end point, dose response relationship, effective dose – effective concentration, LD50, LC50, NOEL, NOED/NOEC) and the application areas of these parameters in environmental toxicology.
Will be able to examine the monitoring of toxic compounds, synergistic toxicity applications and obtains information about hazard and risk assessment in environmental toxicology.
