Week - 1 Definition and recomended references; Definition of thermodynamics (Temperature: thermometers and temperature scales: Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin; Heat definition, Heat transfer: convection, radiation and conduction;)
Week - 2 Basic concepts of Thermodynamics; Properties of pure substances I.
Week - 3 Properties of pure substances II; Applications.
Week - 4 The first law of Thermodynamics: Introduction, Work. (Gases: ideal gases laws; specific heat at constant volume and constant pressure)
Week - 5 A systematic approach to problem solving, Specific heat, heat capacity; Applications.
Week - 6 A systematic approach to problem solving, Specific heat, heat capacity; Applications.
Week - 7 The first law of Thermodynamics: Control volumes; Applications.
Week - 8 The first law of Thermodynamics: The steady-flow process; Applications.
Week - 9 The second law of Thermodynamics: Introduction, Heat engines, The Carnot cycle; Applications. (Latent heats of fusion and evaporation, thermal energy, heat of combustion.)
Week - 10 Entropy, the increase in entropy principle; Property diagrams; T-s relations; Applications
Week - 11 The entropy changes of pure substances; Applications
Week - 12 The entropy changes of Ideal gases; Applications
Week - 13 Adiabatic efficiencies; Applications (Isothermal, adiabatic expansion and compression, refrigerators and heat pumps;).
Week - 14 Gas power cycles, engine cycles; Applications.
