Profile of the Programme

The Industrial Design Program offers a holistic and strategic problem-solving approach focused on the functional, aesthetic, and sustainable design of products, systems, services, and experiences while considering user needs, business objectives, the possibilities and limitations of production and technological infrastructure, and environmental impacts. The program, which has been active since 2000, aims to cultivate designers who are highly aesthetically sensitive, capable of creative, critical, and systematic thinking, and possess ethical and social responsibility. The program cultivates designers who develop innovative solutions for social life and industrial production. Students are equipped with contemporary practices such as sustainability, artificial intelligence, and digital fabrication, in addition to classical approaches such as basic design, freehand drawing, and technical presentation. Students develop applied projects in product design studios, while building their portfolios through professional elective courses, which not only enhance their core skills but also provide opportunities to develop products in diverse areas such as furniture, packaging, toy, service/experience design, and digital game design. Education is supported by projects conducted in design studios, computer and application laboratories, industry collaborations, and learning environments integrated with the sector and industry. Students learn to evaluate user and societal needs within the context of cultural, environmental, and economic factors, and to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Graduates of the program earn the title of Industrial Designer, and they have employment opportunities as freelance designers or in the private and public sectors, R&D and P&D centers, consulting firms, production-focused businesses, and NGOs. They can also work in numerous sectors, including industrial products, consumer electronics, appliances, furniture, automotive, yachts, health technologies, packaging, games and entertainment, user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. Students may advance their academic careers, and with double majors, minors, and international exchange opportunities, they graduate as versatile, interdisciplinary designers with a keen understanding of global and local issues.
