  • Students describe the different system components used to produce the images on new aircraft glass cockpits and their benefits and demonstrate the increased redundancy in a Glass cockpit.
  • Describe correct handling of electrostatic sensitive devices and the failures associated with static discharge on electronic equipment
  • Students explain the principle of operation of CRT, LED and LCD displays in a modern aircraft.
  • Students describe why electrostatic sensitive components are placarded.
  • Students identify awareness of restrictions, airworthiness requirements and possible catastrophic effects of unapproved changes to software programs.
  • Students state that the Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring System (ECAM) has, in principle, the same task as the Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) system.
  • State the purpose of the ECAM.
  • Explain how to operate the ECAM system.
  • Describe the inhibiting functions in relation to different flight phases.
  • Identify the display units (DU) of ECAM System
  • Identify the types of DU’s.
  • Interpret the important colors used by the DU’s
  • Explain the function of the control panel and how it is operated.
  • Explain how to select different pages on the DUs.
  • Explain in the case of a DU failure, switching to another DU is possible.
  • Students describe the systems involved and information being presented on EFIS
  • Explain the function of the control panel and how it is operated.
