Week - 1 Course Introduction and CMF Concept: The place of CMF (Color, Materials and Finish) in industrial design, introduction of the course plan and process, overview through sample CMF projects.
Week - 2 Course Introduction and CMF Concept: The place of CMF (Color, Materials and Finish) in industrial design, introduction of the course plan and process, overview through sample CMF projects.
Week - 3 Color Meanings in Cultural Context: Meanings of colors in different cultures, symbolic uses, effects of universal and local color codes on design.
Week - 4 Color Definition Systems I: Structure of RAL and Pantone systems, their areas of use, and introduction with comparative examples in industry.
Week - 5 Color Definition Systems II: LAB and NCS systems, technical differences, introduction with application examples in the product development process.
Week - 6 Moodboard Basics and Types: What is a moodboard, what are its types, how to prepare it; storytelling through color, material and texture.
Week - 7 Moodboard and Product Relationship: The relationship between moodboards and product language; visual analysis studies on sample products.
Week - 8 CMF Language: Material, Surface and Color Harmony: Use of CMF components together, harmonious color-material-texture combinations, industrial product examples.
Week - 9 Definition and Usage of MUS: Material–Usage–Surface approach, the role of MUS in CMF decision processes, explanation and application through examples.
Week - 10 Product segmentation by color: The role of colors in good–better–best classification, user perception and market positioning, case studies.
Week - 11 CMF Applications I: Students are asked to create moodboards and create product CMF studies appropriate to these boards.
Week - 12 CMF Applications II: Evaluation of student work, moodboard–product compatibility, feedback and improvement suggestions.
Week - 13 Segmentation Practices: Positioning products in different segments and connecting them with brand strategies, along with students' CMF studies.
Week - 14 Final Presentations and Overall Evaluation: Presentation of students' moodboard-based CMF and segmentation projects, peer evaluation, and course summary
