Assessment methods and criteria One midterm assignment submission and one final assignment submission. The assignments are based on the topics covered during the semester and are given to the students two weeks prior to the exam dates. Students are expected to complete and submit their assignments on the day of the scheduled exam.

Week - 1 Introduction and discussion, explanation of the course content, course period process, expected assignments, and evaluation criteria.
Week - 2 1870–1880: Industrial Revolution, social transformation, mechanization, Arts & Crafts movement.
Week - 3 1890–1900: Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, experimentation with materials and form.
Week - 4 1910s: Birth of Modernism, pre-Bauhaus developments, Futurism and Cubism.
Week - 5 1920s: Bauhaus, De Stijl, Le Corbusier, modern design and functionality.
Week - 6 1930s: Modern interiors, Art Deco, material diversity.
Week - 7 General discussion on the topics covered since the beginning of the semester and explanation of the midterm assignment.
Week - 8 1940s: Post-WWII design, minimalism, new production methods.
Week - 9 1950s: Rise of popular culture, industrial design, American modernism.
Week - 10 1960s: Pop Art, Space Age, plastics and synthetic materials.
Week - 11 1970s: Postmodernism, search for identity, individuality, diversity in fashion.
Week - 12 1980s: Consumer culture, Memphis Group, design with playfulness and color.
Week - 13 1990s: Beginning of the digital age, minimalism, globalization.
Week - 14 2000s: New millennium, sustainability, biomimicry, digital fabrication techniques.
