Profile of the Programme

Department of Interior Design was established in 1991 under the Faculty of Fine Arts of Anadolu University. Department of Interior Design, which is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Architecture and Design which was structured in 2011, has been continuing its education under Eskişehir Technical University since 2018.

In terms of its historical development, Interior Design is included in the field of design and art as both a profession and a training field. Interior design, in which creativity is used as a method of invention, is concerned not only with the design, taking into consideration the demands, tastes and needs of the users in the space, but also in all kinds of spaces that includes the concept of "interior" in line with contemporary approaches. Interior design, which has a wide subject and application area, creates value for them in every place used in human life. In this context; Interior design has a feature that evaluates the places they use in their lives in terms of their practical, aesthetic and symbolic functions in accordance with their physical needs, spiritual characteristics and actions.

With this approach, as a necessity of the era, it includes a feature that questions the concept of “interior” from product scale to urban scale. In the light of these features, interior design has also the opportunity to produce products in many branches of art.

The Interior Design program and conceptual designs are evaluated and the "Interior Design Project" and "Furniture" courses form the basis of the education program. In addition, there are many theoretical and applied field courses. Moreover, there is a wood atelier and a model atelier in order to implement the designed products.

It is expected that graduated students from the department can identify the problems related to the functional and quality of the spaces by adding the creativity and aesthetic knowledge; they must have the training and experience about construction site control, building systems, interior details of building, equipment and materials, and to prepare the drawings and documents related to them.
