Content

Weeks Topics
Week - 1 EN: Introduction to Cable Technologies: Fundamental concepts, industry standards (TSE, VDE), and the practical properties of conductor materials (copper, aluminum) and insulating materials.
Week - 2 EN: Cable Structure and Components: Conductor construction, insulation systems, shielding (screening), armor, and outer sheath layers and their functions.
Week - 3 EN: Building Wiring and Indoor Installation Cables: NYA and NYM (Antigron) cables, their construction, color coding, and applications.
Week - 4 EN: Underground and Power Cables: Low-voltage NYY (YVV) power cables, their structural characteristics, and installation applications in underground and field environments.
Week - 5 EN: Fire-Resistant (Halogen-Free) Cables: Characteristics of HFFR cables, their behavior under fire conditions, and their applications in fire safety and emergency systems.
Week - 6 EN: Industrial Control and Signal Cables: Automation and control panel cables, and the role of shielded cables in minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI) in industrial applications.
Week - 7 EN: Network and Data Communication Cables: Construction and performance characteristics of Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat7 cables, RJ45 connector termination, and structured cabling principles.
Week - 8 EN: Fiber Optic Cables: Types of fiber optic cables, their advantages, bending and breakage risks during installation, and typical application areas.
Week - 9 EN: Special-Purpose Cables: Messenger-supported (overhead) cables, flexible cables for moving systems (e.g., cranes and weighing systems), and rubber-sheathed cables.
Week - 10 EN: Cable Selection Principles I: Interpretation of current-carrying capacity tables and practical conductor sizing based on installation conditions, including underground, free-air, and conduit installations.
Week - 11 EN: Cable Selection Principles II: Practical voltage drop calculations for building electrical installations and the relationship between cable length and power transmission.
Week - 12 EN: Cable Installation Methods: Cable trays, plastic and metal cable ducts, underground conduit systems, and cable pulling techniques and installation practices.
Week - 13 EN: Cable Termination and Installation Practices: Cable stripping tools, cable lug and ferrule crimping tools, terminal block connections, and the application of heat-shrink tubing.
Week - 14 EN: Cable Testing and Field Fault Detection: Use of insulation resistance testers (Megger), continuity testing, and practical methods for locating faults in underground cable systems.
