Profile of the Programme

The mission of the Coaching Education Program; Knowing the basic structure, function, systems of the human organism and the adaptations of these systems to different training modulations, able to design branch-specific training programs in the light of this information, who will contribute to the development of sports throughout the country, especially related to the branch in which they are trained, who have grasped the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary structure of sports science, have knowledge of the coaching profession. To train trainers who are well-equipped in terms of their skills and abilities, who can follow scientific and technological developments and apply these developments in their field.Coach Training is an interdisciplinary field that provides training science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, sport psychology, statistics, teaching techniques, tactical development of sports and performance planning.

Vision of Coaching Education Program; In the field of coaching education, it is to be a researcher, innovative, leader in its field, open to developments and a preferred program that contributes to the society in the light of science and technology with education and training at international standards.

Program Profile; The Department of Coach Training was founded in the academic year 2001-2002. The department aims to educate students who will be able to: follow the importance of athletes' performance in Turkey and in the world; train their athletes effectively and participate in scientific research in the field of sport. In addition, the department aims to improve students' skills and leadership abilities. The department has 11 main branches of sports: Artistic Gymnastics,Track and Field, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Handball, Table-Tennis, Rhytmic Gymnastics, Tennis, Volleyball and Swimming. Students can specialize in their desired field. With its education system based on scientific methods, the Department of Coach Training offers students courses that enable them to improve their theoretical and practical knowledge.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.

A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and no FF, DZ or YZ grades.

Access to Further Studies

May apply to master's or doctorate programmes in any field or proficiency in fine arts programmes

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The main working area of the graduates of Coaching Education Department is the Sports Federations involved in Ministry of Youth and Sport, General Directorate of Sport. Besides, autonomous (self-governing) sports federations, sport clubs and special sport centers can also be counted in the employment areas.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters. Letter grades and their associated coefficients are as follows;
